A WET AND WILD TIME AT SKELETON PARK ART FEST
Colton Fox was delighted to appear at the Skeleton Park Art Festival on June 22 & 23, 2024 in McBurney Park in downtown Kingston, Ontario.
At this event, Colton Fox sold artwork and comics alongside Danny Williams, his collaborator on the comic Doodle Duck. There, Colton spoke with Global News about the event which you can watch Here. Colton Fox had the chance to meet many wonderful attendees that offered a ray of sunshine on an otherwise stormy day.
The Skeleton Park Arts Festival is a free, grassroots, multi-disciplinary art experience that happens in Kingston on the summer solstice weekend, and run by an independent not-for-profit community organization of the same name.
The Skeleton Park Arts Festival also publishes the quarterly community newspaper The Skeleton Press. In its newest issue Colton Fox provided a full page accurate map of downtown Kingston that also works as an interactive maze, where readers are encouraged to find as many ways as possible to get the character Skelly from Rideau Public School to the Skeleton Park Arts Festival. The maze also includes many Kingston landmarks and organizations.

Skeleton Press mission statement:
“What started as an informal chat about the politics of a neighbourhood in transition led to the founding of this newspaper. We are seeking a broader, more inclusive conversation that captures the vibrancy and diversity of the neighbourhood. We are interested in how an “old school” newspaper can communicate differently than digital publishing, and how the act of distributing the physical object can build community.
We hope tattered copies of The Skeleton Press can be passed from hand to hand, sparking conversation with neighbours over the fence or at the corner store, and strengthening our sense of place and each other. We believe in the power of sharing stories and telling a good yarn.
Please mark up your copy – write your thoughts on neighbourhood matters, ask a question, share what’s important to you about this community. Then give it to a friend or neighbour, leave it on the table at the café, drop it in someone’s mailbox or book box. This is meant to be a shared experience, a community-builder, and a conversation starter”
